Principal integrative psychotherapist in the British National Health Service and an independent academic.
This site provides information to support the theory and practice of integrative psychotherapy. The site supports continuing professional development for the silent majority of practitioners who integrate ideas, interventions and justificatory evidence from different traditions. Integrative practice provides care tailored to the specific needs, abilities and wishes of clients.
The academic comments explain the intentionality model which is the theoretical integration created by Dr Owen. Information is provided on key terms in the theory and practice of integrative therapy, phenomenology and philosophy applicable to practice. Phenomenology and psychotherapy both share the basic practice of interpreting mental processes, the intentionalities, from what appears of what other people experience.Yet there is next to no information on how to do this in a formal way. All comments on the site are aimed at balancing opposing forces and promoting quality of care.
